Every Inch a Legacy
Founded by artist and producer Kinnie Starr in the mid-1990s, Violet Inch Records is part of the early Canadian wave of women-run, artist-owned labels. Alongside peers such as Ferron’s Lucy Records, Loreena McKennitt’s Quinlan Road, and Julie Doiron’s Sappy Records, Violet Inch helped define a rights-first, license-later model—keeping masters close while partnering widely.
